No Siri voice response over Bluetooth since iOS 15.5

Prior to 15.5, Siri would respond to long presses of the "voice command" button in my Ford. First, there was the initial 2-tone beep, I would speak, and Siri would respond to my command with voice.

Now, since 15.5, after a long press of the "voice command" button, I hear Siri activating with the 2-tone beep, I speak, and Siri doesn't respond with voice anymore. It seems like she's trying to respond because there is a delay (as if she is talking) until the next 2-tone beep (wanting me to confirm the command I sent Siri) or if the command requires no confirmation the Siri "session" with the car just ends.

Commands I speak to Siri all seem to work, but there is no interactive voice response from Siri over Bluetooth anymore... Just the familiar 2-tone beep prompts and silences...

So it seems Siri is working functionally, but the voice response is completely absent or completely muted.

Thank you, @AnnieL2.

The issue wasn't with CarPlay, but with Siri connected to Bluetooth audio in general.

Siri was not responding with an actual human voice when I triggered her, however I was hearing the familiar double "ding-ding" which normally represents Siri is awaiting a response from me.

This told me my Bluetooth audio was definitely working, but for whatever reason, Siri's voice from the iPhone was not (after all, the iPhone was properly generating the prompt tone).

On a whim, I changed the voice from Irish 2 back to American 4 and haven't had an issue since.

Thank you,

~Bill

Greetings Novox,

If your vehicle supports CarPlay the following article has some steps to take - If you need help with CarPlay. Skip the ones that don’t pertain to the situation and test after each step to see if there is any change.

1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
• If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
• If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth.
2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.
3. Restart your iPhone and your car.
4. Make sure that Siri is on.
5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

Thanks.
