How to turn down the volume of my alarm clock
All,
I'm fairly new to iPhone and but I have a simple issue that I can't seem to figure out.
I'm trying to get my wake-up alarm to decrease in volume. To explain a bit more: There are 2 wake-up alarms in iPhone, one is related to your sleep rhythm, and that alarm is at the top of the alarm tab in clock. I cannot tap on the time as with the other alarms to change its settings, there is separate "change" button for this very special alarm. If I want to change that special alarm's volume and the sound one scrolls down, picks a nice tune (I like Early Riser) and changes the volume below it. Hit done (don't forget this, there are places where settings take immediate effect, but not here, at first I just swiped up to go back to the home screen but you have to hit that "done" at the top) and things are as expected but...
There is another type of wake-up alarm, ones that are different from your usual sleep rhythm as set in Apple Health. Those are listed below the primary alarm in the alarm tab of the clock, and you can change those settings by tapping on the time itself, there is no "change" button. So, I tap the time of one of those occasional alarms and it allows me to set the wake-up alarm time, pick a sound (but not my favorite Early Riser, there are only much more harsh alarms present here!)... But most importantly, there is no way to change the volume! I can change the volume of the alarm as it plays the "preview" with the volume buttons. At first I thought that was the way to go, but when I was blasted out of my bed this morning by a wall sound I think that setting it like that does not "stick".
I searched around the internet and there is a setting to set alarm volume with the alarm volume buttons, it's called the "Change with Buttons" option in the Sound and Haptics menu. I check that, changed the volume again in the same way, it still didn't "stick".
Finally I found that I can actually turn down the secondary wake-up alarm volume with the "Ringer and Alerts" volume slider (which you can touch or control with the buttons, that seems to be the sole purpose of the "Change with Buttons" option). However, while this makes my alarm nice and smooth (not as smooth as Early Riser though), it also causes me to never hear any alert ever anymore. Somehow, lying in a bed in the early morning requires a lower volume than when I'm walking around a busy city, I can't be the only, right?
It is hard to believe that the alarm volume can't be changed separately, I'm just here to ask, is this long journey of discovery wrt my iPhone wake up alarm really going to end here? Am I going to have to live with inaudible alarms during the day or change my sleep cycle settings every time I want to wake up early or late, just to get an acceptable wake-up alarm volume?
I do like the health aspect of the sleep cycle etc, but I think just a simple wake-up alarm with a volume setting that can access all alarm sounds on the phone, like I had on Android was a bit simpler to deal with.
I hope I'm missing something, I suspect I'm not. In the latter case, please consider this a feature request for a volume slider for occasional (at least I use them occasionally, I mean the non-Apple Health) wake-up alarms.
