Final Cut Pro Memory Usage

I am editing a 3:44 second video that has a soundtrack, pictures, and a few video clips. I have installed some additional transitions from an eternal source into FCPX. Every time I open FCPX, my computer completely freezes, FCPX goes unresponsive, and I am unable to work on the project. I have tried restarting the software, restarting my Mac, lowering the resolution of the project, etc. The application memory seems to skyrocket up to over 100 GB when I have a MacBook Pro with an i9 and 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. Does anyone know how to fix this issue so I can edit this video on my computer?

Whenever the application misbehaves, start by deleting the preferences.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences. The application will start in a default state, and open an “Untitled” library.

Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

If the problem persists: Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here.

Use the “additional text” button and paste the report into the text box.

Download Etrecheck from its website.

Run it and let it produce its report (it will take perhaps 2 minutes).

When it finishes. click Share Repor->Copy Report.

Start a reply here, click the "additional text" button

and paste.

Does the problem occur without the third party plugins? How full are your drives?

Thank you for your response. Deleting the preferences made it run slightly quicker but then it got caught up towards the end and became unresponsive. How do I run the Etrecheck?

The problem seems to occur regardless of the plugins I use. I have about 400 Gb / 1 Tb available on my internal SSD where this library is stored.
