MacBook Air M1 (2020) keeps disconnecting from wifi
I'm presenting the problem and then the solution that worked for me. I was having continuous disconnecting problems (ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED) when using Brave, Chrome, Opera but not Safari or Firefox. I thought the problem had to be with the browsers. I had even talked to Apple Support but they were unable to solve it. They just suggested restarting my router, restarting the Mac, etc. Didn't help.
In researching this problem I came across the following link:
https://www.lifewire.com/reset-network-settings-on-mac-5184072
They suggest gong to Network under System Preferences and doing some stuff. When I tried that I saw that I have no networks listed there and I was unable to add one (all grayed out). Yet my home wifi network was working, and I couldn't figure out why it didn't show under Network. So I tried what they describe as the complicated solution, which involved deleting 5 system configuration files in the library and restarting the computer (detailed instructions given at the link). It worked! Now no more interruptions on any of the browsers. I was blaming the M1 chip because I didn't have the problem with my older MacBook. No so. Somehow those 5 files were the problem and I'm not sure how they got that way.
Incidentally, if you're thinking of buying the new MacBook Air, get the 16 gig memory, not the 8 gig. Seems I'm always getting a memory warning (from CleanMyMac) whenever I have too many apps open, and I never have more than 3 or 4 open at a time. Perhaps I should remove CleanMyMac, as some Level 10 person suggested.
