FCP 10.6.3 fixes transition problem

Not seeing it myself, but it's been reported on fcp.co.

That is weird.

As always, when weird behavior happens, try deleting preferences.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences.

The application will start in a default state, and open an “Untitled” library.

Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

I just tried it again and if I have a storyline next to a connected clip with a video role assigned it works great. However, if I have a storyline next to a photo assigned a Photo 'role' the transition is added to the clip that is selected, NOT the adjacent clip. I have included a screen shot to show you what is happening.

This is not a HUGE issue, but, it really is a lot of extra clicking when editing three stories a day that all have material from many different sources (graphics, photos, video, etc...)

I had not tried this, because I would not add a transition between a connected clip and a connected storyline; instead, I would drag the clip under the "shelf" to add it to the storyline.

But I tried it just now, and it DID create the transition and put the clip inside the storyline, without any additional work, so it appears to work as you wanted it to.

I can't add the transition to the photo. For me it always adds to the end of the video clip if you don't select anything. The transition gets applied to the image if the image side of edit is selected.

This only happens if the photo has a separate role. It does not happen if the images are a video subrole. I'm guessing you're setting a separate role to add a color to the image?

Tom, I see the highlight/double click way to now apply a transition in 10.6.3, and it works between two images and an image and a video clip. But not between two clips because I get a cross dissolve. If I change the default transition to the one I want, I still can't apply the desired transition to 2 clips with CMD-T. What's odd is this only happens with FCP transitions. I'm able to apply third party transitions that I've imported to FCP, the old way, by dragging them onto where two clips meet.

I went to Final Cut Pro release notes - Apple Support above which talks about bug fixes for transition problems. However, I could not find any update at the App Store. Do I need to go somewhere else to get a bug fix?
