Unable to print from new Mac with old printer

I have a canon MG5320 printer scanner that works with my 10 year old Mac. My new Mac (2022) is able to print from the Canon MG5320. New Mac does not show the scan feature. Downloading newest software from Canon did not resolve the problem.

Hi,

The Canon MG5320 is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a model supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that the printer can be used without additional drivers, provided that it and the computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router). Is your printer using AirPrint?

Regarding scanning, see also the following AirPrint guide (for similar European models, such as the MG5350):

You may want to verify that the latest firmware is installed.

You should be able to use Apple's Image Capture app to scan but it is not full featured for scanning. I suggest that you download and try the VueScan app. It is full featured and works with most any scanner. You can try it for free (it will print with a water mark) and buy it if you like it. I have purchased it and I can recommend it. I have no association with VueScan.
