Transfer files from PC to Mac Air

I saved a bunch of folders to a thumb drive from my old PC and when I insert the drive into my Mac, they have a .MS extension and the Mac tries to open them in Outlook. Some of the files are Excel and some are PDF.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.1

Secondary-click the icon (by default, two-finger tap or control-click), then select Open With >

Select the program you want to open the file. If it is a folder that action may not be appropriate though. I don't know how Windows handles folders.
