Proximity Sensor on an Iphone 11

Hello...I work in the medical field and cover my phone with plastic wrap to avoid getting blood, germs, etc on it. I know this affects the proximity sensor because the screen goes blank when making/receiving a call. Is there any way I can turn off the proximity sensor??? So far with my research it shows it can't be shut off. Is this correct? If so, how do I overcome this challenge?? I want to be able to see screen when talking. Thank you!

Hello JOVECell,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. There is not a way to disable the proximity sensor. It may be best to try another method of covering your iPhone display or leaving that section uncovered. The proximity sensor is at the top next to the speaker if that helps. Most screen protectors will have that area notched out so as not to interfere with the sensor. For example Belkin Anti-Glare Screen Protection for iPhone 11 / XR - Apple.

If you would like to suggest a setting for the proximity sensor, you can send your feedback to Apple from Product Feedback - Apple.

Take care.
