iphone is switching off automatically

It sounds as though you may have Auto-Lock enabled which would cause the display of your iPhone to go black and the iPhone to lock after a specified duration of time. This setting can be customized or disabled in Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.

If the iPhone appears to be powering off, is it powering back on by itself or do you see the Apple logo or spinning gear when the iPhone powers back on?
