Apple ID email change

I need to change my main Apple ID email since that email account is not existing any more. If I follow the instructions, if I understand correctly, I will get a verification code sent to me. Well I suppose that verification code will go to my earlier email which I cannot reach any more, and cannot open. What to do? Thanks Pär Johan
