You will have to state what exact Mac is this.


There are over 52 models of MBP released since January 2006— as you might imagine they are not all the same.



Your data is always available if you have a backup....

Time Machine: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support


If you value your user data—not advised to wait for a catastrophic failure to get the backup religion:

3-2-1 Backup Strategy: three copies of your data, two different methods, and one offsite.

Your Macbook Pro sounds like a non-starter. You'll need to find the important sub-model with model year data to which Leroy refers. and the Model Number, using this Apple support serial number lookup function:


Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support


The return will look like this:




Most recent Macbook Pros have the serial and model numbers on the case bottom near the hinge:


⚠️ For security reasons, DO NOT post your serial number!!



Many late-model Macbook Pros have non-detachable storage. If the logic board dies, so does your data.
