Apple One family sharing UK-USA

I live in the UK but have family in the USA. I recently joined Apple One and shared that family plan with them. However, it seems that although it says they have access to Apple Music, when they try to access it it asks them to pay. The news + subscription service works fine, what’s the deal with Apple Music is this a geo/location blocking thing? Because that would be pretty frustrating considering in a global society families can live all over the world?!?

any help would be great thanks!

Family Sharing is country specific. Meaning all members of the Family Sharing group must be using Apple IDs that are set to the same country.

The actual physical location is not all that important.

If they were allowed to join the Family Sharing group correctly, then everything is correctly set up.

They should be able to use the shared Apple Music subscription assuming you are paying for the Apple One Family plan £19.95/mo.. Subscriptions from the individual Apple One will not be shared.
