I am abroad and i am trying to connect to the hotel's wifi. It is a sonera homerun network where the hotel gives you a user name and password to connect for free.

When i use my itouch i connect to the network and put in the details and it connects.

When I use my ipad i do the same but it just hangs and doesnt connect. I am now questioning why i purchased the ipad as it doesnt work where i want it to work ! The ipad does connect to my home wifi and to my works "guest" network so cant understand why it doesnt work in the hotel.

Very frustrated !

I understand that you're frustrated, but blaming the iPad right away is not very logical. Before anything, I would determine if the hotel's WiFi only allows one MAC address per user name/password. Your iPod might connect, then block your iPad from connecting. An outside chance probably, but that's the first thing I'd check. A lot of hotels are doing this.

Second, have you updated your iPad to the current version?

Third, is the hotel using some kind of encryption that needs to be matched with the iPad encryption?

I would also check the settings on your iPod touch carefully seeing if everything matches to the iPad.

This sort of problem has been reported here before and people have had success by turning off the Safari Autofill option.

Go to Settings > Safari > Autofill and turn this off.

The freeze-up seems to be caused by a dialog that Autofill attempts to bring up (Save password, etc.) while the connection process is proceeding.

This probably works on the iPod Touch because, I believe, Autofill defaults to Off on the iPod Touch.

    Try this out.
