I don’t need or use any of these updates, how do I stop receiving them or getting rid of the red dot that tells me there is an update?

If these updates do not pertain to me why do I have to update?

You presumably refer to device system software updates - the most recent being iOS/iPadOS 15.5.

These software updates include essential software security updates. If you connect to the internet, the security updates are an important measure intended to keep your device and data secure. While it is always your choice to install an available update, or not, not doing so exposes your device and data to additional and avoidable risk of compromise.

You should also be aware that Apple only provide support for devices that have been updated to the highest version of system software supported by the device. Should you have cause to seek assistance from Apple, your device will have to be updated to receive service.

While you can disable automatic download and installation of software updates, you cannot suppress the availability notification. The very fact that you see an update notification indicates that an essential update is available for your device.
