I have cleared & deleted everything possible & still do not have enough storage space to download Monterey app. What can I do with the "other" storage?

I had this same issue. I was on the phone with apple support for over 5 hours, and they couldn't figure it out.

Here's how I FINALLY got it to work; when you go to the general and update, UNCHECK the box that says "automatically keep my mac up to date".

As outlined, you cannot control the "other" or "system data" category - the OS does.

I was having the same issue. I made a backup and was able to create enough space to upgrade to "high Sierra". Once I completed the upgrade went back to "About this mac>Storage" and found that those files on Other were very old iPhone and iPad backups. The OS on Sierra directed me to those files, which I deleted. I have no idea how to get to them with the "El Capitan" which is what I had before. Hope this helps.

I have followed all of these things...STILL don't have room. Been with apple support 5 hours, they can't figure it out either. I ran diagnostics, "no issues found".
