Grey Casing on bottom of Macbook coming away

So, I purchased my Macbook back in February and recently I started to notice that the grey casing was coming away on one side of my Macbook. It was bareable and not really noticeable until today when I went to pick my Macbook up and some sort of 'bubble' had formed and my hand pressed on it casuing a great majority of the casing to come away.

Anyone got any idea if this will this be covered by the warranty? I have treated this piece of equipment and have always picked it up with the utmost care and attention as well as only using it on flat, well ventilated areas.

Bought my Macbook 9 months ago (while in the US) and yesterday a little piece of the grey casing chipped off!!!! I too treat this wondrous machine with kid gloves - it normally doesn't get moved at all. I live in South Africa - nowhere near any service provider - and obviously can't get it back to the US. I'm hoping it doesn't get any worse - any suggestions?

Hi there everyone,

I went to my local Apple Store today with this problem and another.
The genius said this is completely covered under warranty and they had the part in stock and could replace it same-day, but due to my other problem it would take longer. Other problem being hair line cracks around the hinge.

My Genius Bar Work Authorization document states the following.

Problem Description/Diagnosis

Issue: Bottom case material is separating from the plastic. Display assembly over hinge is cracked.
Steps to reproduce: Verified issues were not caused by accidental damage.
Proposed resolution: Replacement bottom case and display module.

Repair Estimate

Display Module, 13 inch $430.00
Housing, Bottom Case $141.00
HARDWARE REPAIR-LEVEL 1 $39.00
Total $610.00
Amount Due $0.00

The service and parts are free! I saved a whopping $610.00
