"This song is not currently available in your country or region" for all music not purchase through iTunes Store

Have worked through all troubleshooting on other forums but issue still unresolved.

  1. Checked region on devices which is fine/normal and the same for the Mac and iPhone (Australia)
  2. Disabled VPN, reset warnings & restarted iPhone
  3. Logged out of iCloud, removed music app, updated MacOS and IOS and then all music on iPhone.
  4. Deleted and reimported songs from iTunes library on my Mac and then resynced

Music was playing fine for years until I recently added music from my iTunes library on my Mac (not all music). For just these things it came up with the error "This song is not currently available in your country or region".

On troubleshooting with steps above and finally re-syncing the entire library the entire music library is now greyed (Bandcamp purchases, manually added CD's and even garage band exports). Only iTunes Store purchases are not greyed out.

All these songs play fine on my Mac, just not on my iPhone.

I would be grateful for any ideas or suggestions to resolve this

Thanks,

Jon

Hey there, Jonathan_96!

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.

To start, let’s check Apple Music to see if those original songs that were synced from your computer are available in Apple Music in your region. You can do that following the steps here: Search for music on iPhone - Apple Support

Also, let’s go through the steps found here since all your songs are now greyed out: If your songs are grayed out - Apple Support

We look forward to hearing from you.

With regard to your first suggestion I’m not an Apple Music subscriber so I can’t search for & play songs in Apple Music only what I have in my library. And yes when I search for my own songs they come up in my library. Some greyed out artists and albums I have also show in Apple Music and yet are still greyed out

However I’m talking about offline music I’ve exported from CDs. Why would that also need to be available on Apple Music for me to be able to play it?

As per my original post greyed out songs included my own garage band exports as well (also not going to find that in an Apple Music search)

Your second suggestion regarding greyed out songs is relating to the wireless syncing feature available to Apple Music subscribers. I’m not an Apple Music subscriber, don’t use wireless syncing and hence don’t have an option on my phone to choose “sync library” as described. I use a cable to sync my library with my iPhone so that suggestion is not the issue

Thanks for your consideration though.

Do you have any other suggestions?
