Mid 2011 iMac Snow leopard not updating to 10.6.8?

Hey guys, I need to upgrade this iMac but far as I know the current 10.6.7 needs to be upgraded to 10.6.8 before it can upgrade to any newer system. I tried running the software update 2 times, took 3 hours to download the 3 items [prokit update] but when done and started installing it showed error.

I tried it 3 times. What else can I try please?

Try booting into Safe Mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support and see if it works there.
