Connections required for Sony DCR-TRV460 camcorder to 2020 M1 MacBook Pro

I'd like to transfer old home Hi8/digital 8 movies to my 2020 MI MacBook Pro. I have a Sony DCR-TRV460 camcorder with no AV cables. Before I purchase please confirm these are the correct cables required for transfer. Not sure if I need two or three cables connected in a daisy chain. Starting with the camcorder - iLink 4-pin to 9-pin, (e.g., Tripp Lite FireWire 800 IEEE 1394b Hi-speed Cable (9pin/4pin) 6-ft.(F019-006) black). From it can I connect the Apple firewire adapter to thunderbolt and be good to go?

yes, that is the official way.

For the very adventurous, there are sellers proffering a single cable from 4-pin camera connector to ... wait for it ... USB port. Whether one of these will work in your specific case is unknown.
