facetime unavailable

I have an Iphone 8, 13, and newer Ipad. I am no longer able to facetime between devices. For example, I might be trying to facetime between the Iphone 8 and 13. The caller receives a message which provides "facetime unavailable" and the receiver receives a message "facetime failed". All devices are using the same IOS version. I never had a problem until a few weeks ago. I have done all the steps I can find online and on Apple but no luck. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Red901

Hey Red901,

My wife was able to figure it out. Go to FaceTime under your settings and make sure that the devices are not using the same numbers. For example, my wife and I each only use our phone numbers on our iPhones. The ipads use the email account. She disabled the iMac and Macbook FaceTime accounts because we don’t typically use those. I am now able to FaceTime my kids on their iPads. It does ring to all the iPads (4) but that does not seem to be a problem. I think that with the updates the settings were altered somehow. To give you an idea of our home, we have 2 iPhone’s, 2 apple watches, 4 iPads, 4 Apple TV’s, 2 MacBooks, and 1 iMac. It’s bound to get messy. Hope this helps.

Hello Red901,

I have the same problem. I contacted Apple Support and was instructed that the devices must each have their own Apple ID. In my house, that would be 4 separate id’s. I was also told that this was something that changed with the IOS update about a month ago. This probably does not help you (as it did not help me) but I wanted to share the information I was given.
