Bluetooth connectivity with Yamaha A/V receiver disrupted after update to ios

My IPhone 8 Plus and my spouse's IPhone 13 which were both recently updated to ios 15.4.1 refuse to connect via bluetooth to my Yamaha A/V receiver. Both these phones use to connect flawlessly before the ios update. On the iPhones I "Forgot This Device" and now it just doesn't show up when I use the input button and try to pair devices.

Update on this issue. By the way this is a Yamaha RX-V385 and I was using the input button on the front of the receiver to trigger the Bluetooth to go into Search mode. I took two steps to fix this issue.

  1. I updated the firmware on the Yamaha receiver. Since this version of the receiver is not network enabled I had to go to the Yamaha website under Support - Software/Download to download the latest firmware 1.10. To find out what version is currently on the receiver hold the Straight button while you press the on/off button to go into Advance Setup and then scroll through the options till you get the Firmware number. Once you download the firmware over the net put it on a USB drive (you have to expand the zip file and put the bin file on the / directory of the USB drive) and then insert the USB drive into the receiver turn it one. Get into Advance Setup (as described above) scroll through until you get to the update firmware - USB option and select.
  2. Once that was done I used the remote to pair the receiver with the iPhone. First make sure the Receiver Bluetooth Configuration is turned On. Then put the receiver in Bluetooth Search mode. For some reason this didn't work doing the same with the input button on the front of the Receiver. Press the Bluetooth button on the remote. Then press and hold the memory button on the remote until the receiver goes into Bluetooth Search Mode. At that point if you have your iPhone in Discovery mode the Yamaha receiver will show up in Other Devices on your iPhone and it will allow you to pair.
