I have an early 2008 macbook (white) with osx 10.6.8 that I need to reset before I donate, how can I do this?
I cannot get into recovery mode, looking at a different thread it said there is no recovery mode until osx10.7

Click here and follow the instructions. When you reach step 7, insert a compatible Mac OS X install DVD, restart with the C or Option key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.
