Phone stuck on apple logo

My iphone 12 pro is currently stuck on the apple logo upon restarting. I attempted to open a message from my husband when it kind of froze or glitched out. So I shut the iphone off and restarted it. Now my phone is stuck on the apple logo. What can I do to fix this without erasing the whole phone? I've tried connecting it to a computer and updating it. That did not seem to work.
