Apple watch manufacturer defect
Hello,
I've been using my apple watch for over a year now, and I have never used my watch in water i.e. shower, shallow pool since i purchased it. I was on holiday in April this year and I noticed my friends wearing the apple watch in the pool and the fact that its water resistant, I also can wear it in the pool. And I wore it the first time in the water (shallow water), I didnt dive or I didnt even submerge the watch more than 30cm in the water. I noticed it hanging and stuck on the main screen that it may be a glitch then it turns off.
I placed it on the charger and tried to turn it on, I got a white blank screen and the watch did not come line. When I went back from Holiday, I booked a meeting with Apple representative to discuss the issue and that it should not break given the technical specification highlights (As per below) and that the only time and the first time I used it in the pool, it stopped working. Now i am aware that I was out of coverage, however the cause of damage has on relevance with the coverage since this is clearly a manufactured defect and false advertisement, well at least my watch had something wrong with it because to this date all my friends still use their apple watch in water and I have to play almost 70% the value of the watch to replace it which is not reasonable and not rationale given that the new series 7 is only a few hundreds more than the repair value. I should not be charged to have to repair the watch since the product does not meet the technical specifications (I wish I hadn't used it in water) but the fact that I did, should not have damaged my watch and this is an Apple issue and should be replaced by apple since it doesn't not meet the technical specifications. I don't not want to speak to the apple representative in Dubai, UAE because they are not helpful and actually rude. I want to raise this to apple globally to address this defect.
Can you help?
Apple Watch Series 6 have a water resistance rating of 50 meters under ISO standard 22810:2010. This means that they may be used for shallow-water activities like swimming in a pool or ocean. However, they should not be used for scuba diving, waterskiing, or other activities involving high-velocity water or submersion below shallow depth.
