Is this true?!?

One day I was on messages and my friend sent this to me: "Today is iMessages birthday! If you send this to 12 people you will get 120 new emojis! How kind is that! (It works)". So is this true? Does iMessage know if you send it and get 120+ emojis? Or is it a scam?

It, and all such messages are scams, 100% of the time. No exceptions.
