Apple ID Chaos

Hopefully someone can confirm this is doable:

I currently have two Apple ID’s.

  • ID1 is associated with email address1
  • ID2 with email address2

The reason I have two ID’s is email1 was removed by the carrier [changed domain names] without

me knowing and I ended up setting up a new email to replace it. Somehow, in attempting to change email1 with email2 for my Apple ID1, I ended up with another Apple ID [ID2].

Since I cannot just delete Apple ID2 and then change ID1’s email to email 2, I’d like to:

  • Set up another email account [email 3]
  • Change Apple ID2 to email 3
  • Sign out of Apple ID2
  • Sign into Apple ID1
  • Change Apple ID1 to email 2
  • Delete Apple ID2

I don’t want to just change ID1 with email 3. If I did, I would then have to change all the email addresses to all the people, billing, etc. That would be a lot of work with the potential of missing someone.

Apple ID Name Change.  *

Make sure you turn off Find My Phone before signing out of the old ID. Once signed out and Find My Phone is off, then sign in with the new ID, then turn Find My Phone back on.

What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support  *  I suggest doing this before you change your Apple ID or password.

Apple hasn’t published any guidance for using an address again. Normally, if your e-mail address was associated with an ID in any way, for example as a Notification email address or a Rescue e-mail address, then it can't be reused as an  Apple ID email address for approximately one year. I have also seen posts that stated Apple told them there was a 30 day waiting period before the address could be used again. You will need to get another e-mail address from somewhere like AOL or Yahoo to use as your Apple ID or you can try waiting 30 days to see if that works.
