Troubleshooting Printers and macOS:

Have you updated your macOS, recently? What is the version?*** It may not be comp able, as of yet, meaning Canon still has yet to do their part in terms of providing the drivers.

Getting the Drivers:

Important: Get the drivers from the manufacturer (Canon) and none other. Getting drivers elsewhere may end up with junk files be installed and placed about in your macOS.

What makes you think you need an app? Have you tried to add the printer via System Preferences > Printers?

and, are you sure the printer is compatible with the new OS?

Unless you have a very old printer, Apple fetches and installs whatever driver is needed automatically when the printer is found and added in the System Preferences pane.
