How to bypass the RIDICULOUS 13 day waiting period to reset password

I purchased two Apple watches for my 10 year old twins. I wanted to set the watches up using Apple's family plan. Each child has an iphone and I tried to set up the watches to pair with their phones so they could use the watch to have the phone ring when they can't find the phone.

I have been trying to get this set up for more than 6 weeks. I have logged 20+ hours with Apple customer support.

I was forced to create unique email accounts for each child, a safety risk I am uncomfortable with, in order to create new Apple IDs for each child. After The email accounts were set up, I used them to create the Apple ID for each child, within my Apple ID family plan. I had to verify the Apple Id's with 6 digit codes texted to my phone, and then another 6 digit code emailed to each of their email addresses. Once all of that was done, I tried to pair one watch to each phone. Two more rounds of authentication codes, and then Apple locked the accounts. Even though both passwords were the same, and I wrote the passwords down as I created them, the Apple watch App on the phones would not take the passwords.  I was forced to reset the passwords, with another round of authentication, this time to both phone via text, and email. After successfully entering two more authentications, I was informed that I would have to wait 13 days to reset the Apple ID passwords. 6 hours on the phone with Apple support did exactly ZERO, except waste my time stepping me through boilerplate general tech support steps that had nothing to do with my problem. Every call ended with tech support stating that the password reset process is automatic, and there is nothing they can do to shorten it.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Both Apple IDs are in my family plan. Both of them use me and my phone number as their account backup and recovery. Both phones have been on my account for 4+ years. I have purchase receipts for both phones and both watches.

Now I have to wait 2 weeks to reset a password? This is absolutely ridiculous. This is literally a deal breaker for me. If I cannot find a way around this idiotic 2 week wait time to reset an Apple ID password, I am done with the Apple ecosystem FOREVER.

Please help!

The Recovery Process is an automated process and the length of time it takes can vary a lot. Apple ID Support can only answer your questions. They can't intervene in or speed up the process. The article below has some suggestions to shorten the time the process takes.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.


If you want to, you can send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner. Pick the closest topic you can find.
