I can enter an appointment on the Outlook calendar and have
it show up on the iPhone calendar. Once it is on the iPhone, I can change the
time on the iPhone appointment or delete it and that syncs with the Outlook
calendar. However, I cannot enter an appointment on the iPhone calendar and
have it show up on the Outlook calendar. Is there any explanation or any way to
correct this?

Double check that the default calendar is outlook.

I have the same problem as pensivedoc above. I can usually create a new event on the Calendar on my iPhone XR and it will then appear on my laptop. This has stopped working, even though I can still do the same thing in reverse, i.e. I can create an event on my laptop and it appears on my iPhone Calendar.
How do I fix this?
making Outlook the defalt calendar does not eliminate the problem. I can still schedule an appointment in Outlook and it shows up onthe Apple calendar, but not vice versa.
Outlook is the default calendar. any other suggestions?

I also have this problem with both the calendar and contacts not syncing from the iPhone to Outlook on the PC.
