DVD Player very poor quality

MacPro 2013 / Big Sur

I tried to see some DVDs with DVD Player, but the quality is terrible!

The picture seems posterized, and there are no options to change.

The same DVDs appear very good if I use VLC.

Mac Pro, macOS 11.6

if these are commercial discs, remember that they are likely content-protected. Apple will not provide the content 'in the clear' at full quality for any purposes except viewing on a qualified viewing device.

Your displays must feature support for HDCP to play those DVDs.

High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is a form of digital copy protection developed by Intel Corporation[1] to prevent copying of digital audio and video content as it travels across connections. Types of connections include DisplayPort (DP), Digital Visual Interface (DVI), and High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), as well as less popular or now deprecated protocols like Gigabit Video Interface (GVIF) and Unified Display Interface (UDI).
