MacBook Pro 2018 keyboard Backlight not working

All I tried has failed. I have tried reseting SMC , PRAM as mentioned in other posts but it did not solve the problem. I have tried setting an other user account. When I go to preference the option mentioned in other post "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light" is not there. see screen capture. The icon are available on the Touch Bar but pressing them has no effect (the icon does not come on the screen) . I can move the backlight cursor in the preferences but it right back to zero. I had connected an external keyboard sometime back but I have remove it from the bluetooth so it should not interfere. Does anybody has an idea?

Sounds like a hardware issue—


you run the user Diagnostic...not as definitive as Apple's own AST2 (Apple Service Toolkit) back bench diagnostic, but may kick out an error code.
