too many drafts saved in Mail

when i search for an old email, up comes a massive pile of old draft emails in Mail, all created months ago while i was composing those emails. for some dumb reason, ALL the drafts get saved. they don't appear in the Drafts mailbox on my laptop and they are really irritating because i have to sift through hundreds of identical draft emails just to find the one i want. how do i stop this happening? i'm running Monterrey 12.3.1. thanks for any advice!

Thank you for getting back to us, ajcphoto. You should be able to just right click on the folder, then select "Erase Deleted Items" to have them permanently deleted. To change the settings gs for when the archived messages delete, you can go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > select the specific account > Mailbox Behaviors.

Have a great day!

Hi ajcphoto,

Thank you for posting to Apple Support Communities.

Let's check some settings on the Mail app on your Mac. Open All Drafts on the left side. Do you see any of the drafts there? Also check the Trash and Archive to make sure they aren't listed in there as well. That can cause them to appear when searching for a specific email.

Let us know what happens after those steps.

Cheers.
