Links open apple store instead of app

While using safari/chrome and click on a link to a website page of an app I have on my phone, a notification appears to either use the app or view via browser. If I choose open the app it opens apple store instead. Even if I click on the app to open it the link doesn’t come up. In the past versions of iOS, the link would immediately open the app.

I’ve seen others post this over the last 8 years but still no solution, and in the words of the previous 2020 post, “pretty pathetic”. But please help me :)

Hey Drloveletter,

If you haven’t already, try clearing the history and cookies from Safari on your device. You can do this using the following steps:

To clear your history and cookies, go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data. Clearing your history, cookies, and browsing data from Safari won't change your AutoFill information.
To clear your cookies and keep your history, go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data, then tap Remove All Website Data.
To visit sites without leaving a history, turn Private Browsing on.
