Can’t update Apple ID on my watch.

My iPhone is not “able to find” my series 6 watch to update my apple ID….since it (watch) has randomly said that i need to update my Apple ID. It is not in airplane mode, it is turned on, and it meets all other requirements to connect. Yesterday it went wild and randomly called a contact without me knowing. It also was recording a workout but somehow only lasted 9 minutes and then drained it’s whole battery. What is it’s deal?
