Setting up a New 2022 MacBook Pro

I am setting up a new M1 2022 16 inch MacBook Pro and want to use migration assistant to transfer data from a time machine backup of a 2014 iMac that uses Mojave. How do I do that? What is the best way to connect the iMac and MacBook Pro?

It makes literally no difference whether you transfer information from the iMac or its Time Machine backup.

The easiest way is the same way you connected the Time Machine backup to the iMac.
