Hi Jaybird. Maybe my issues is similar to yours... Have you tried removing them from all your connected devices?

My left AirPod was not working/connecting. I did everything (forget the device, turn off Bluetooth, reconnect, etc). After calling Apple support, their only solution was to mail in my AirPods for repair... This is what worked for me:

FORGET this device on EVERY device it's ever been connected with - Computers, iPads, Phones, TVs. Then, turn off all those devices. Finally, start over on your preferred device.
