You are talking to other customers here, not Apple. SravanKrA gave you several helpful links three of which guide you thru requesting a refund, one that tells you hope to contact Apple directly if you still need help.
Call or chat iTunes/Media support by clicking Get Support at the bottom of iTunes - Official Apple Support
There is a prompt! But nobody knows how the app works until they have a chance to use it. By then as you would like people will forget to go through that hassle of changing the subscription, warn before you take!
There is always a prompt before you buy an App from the App Store.
