Phone dieing

why is my phone dieing at 8 percent you know how when your at 1 percent and your phone lags and eventually it dies well its the same problem but when it’s at 8 percent i got this iphone xs like about 2 months ago and when it dies or turns off it turn immideatly back on but its still laggy until i charge it and it goes over 8 percent

Its battery might be reaching the critical point of its life.

What's the maximum capacity percentage value if you go to Settings>Battery>Battery Health... and tap there?

it used to say 100 percent but now it says 99
