Facetime not Functioning Macbook Air M1

I am running Big Sur 11.6 on my macbook air M1. Ever since I bought my computer (a few months ago) facetime has never worked properly. I can search my entire contacts list, and it allows to me to make an audio call, but I cannot make a video call.

In addition, whenever I receive a facetime call it shows up on my phone, but not on my computer. I never had this issue with my old Mac.

I have signed in and out of my Apple ID multiple times, and it is the same Apple ID. Any advice?

Thank you!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.6

Hi dharcbus,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

You might want to check Screen Time settings ( ie: settings may limit what you are able to do.)

Apple support have articles online (links below) that may help troubleshoot.

Sign into or out of FaceTime on Mac – Apple Support

Change preferences in FaceTime on Mac – Apple Support

Use FaceTime on Mac - Apple Support

Make calls in FaceTime on Mac – Apple Support

Set up your iPhone and FaceTime on Mac for phone calls – Apple Support

Eg: Says: If you turn on Wi-Fi Calling on your iPhone,

you might be asked to turn on Calls from iPhone on your Mac when you open FaceTime on your Mac.
