Mac keeps crashing because of OneDrive

Since last week, my Mac keeps crashing because of the error by OneDrive. The only way to avoid that is to quit OneDrive. Has anyone experienced this issue? I submitted the Crash Report multiple times to Apple already. Please see the crash report for detail.

Same issue here. Multiple black screens/unexpected restarts starting 2 weeks ago, all with panic report that features a OneDrive service in top line as per the posted example. Reported the issue to Apple nearly every time.

2020 iMac MacOS 12.4 Monterey. Was on the insider update program for OneDrive - didn't write down the problematic version.

I disabled OneDrive last week - no black screens. Then re-enabled it this morning - the crashes started again.

I tried upgrading to Version 22.111.0522.0002 recommended here, and had another crash within 20 minutes. Have others had better success? I didn't uninstall oneDrive or anything prior - I just downloaded and ran the installer for the 0522.002 version.

For now I have to leave OneDrive disabled. Honestly I would like to get rid of it but my employer uses it.. so won't be changing anytime soon.

This problem started to manifest itself starting yesterday or the day before (June 8/9 2022) with the latest update of OneDrive and it is a critical problem In the past few days my Mac has been crashing every half an hour if OneDrive is running. Without OneDrive running I don’t have access to many of my files. A solution to this from either Apple or Microsoft is needed urgently. The fact that OneDrive can black-screen the entire computer is very problematic. I hope Microsoft will issue a OneDrive update soon to fix whatever is causing this. I have the latest version of the OneDrive app: 22.099.0508.0001 which was installed through Microsoft AutoUpdate on May 30th. In the same time, macOS should not be as vulnerable so I hope Apple will fix their new extension framework to protect the OS better.

I noticed Microsoft is rolling out an update for OneDrive, version 22.111.0522, which can be downloaded and installed from the link below. I have just installed it in the hope it will solve this crash. I am wondering if anyone has already tried this. I will post an update whether this solves the problem for me or not.

1 - Suggest restarting in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

3 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

4 - If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

5 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

6 - If after performing each of the above steps is the order that have been presents  and still have issues - please advise for possible further assistance.

Judging from above, the user has attempted each of the Six suggestions and still has the computer issue.

That that correct ?

Understand, we are all working Remotely from all around the world. Therefore, we do not have the On-Hands experience the User ( you ) has with this computer.

The below suggestion is the next best thing to actually have an On-Hands experience with this computer.

Suggest downloading the Application Etrecheck directly from a well Respected ASC Contributor. And Safe to use.

The application is free or paid from added features.

Run the application with Full Disc Access ( Security & Privacy - Full Disc Access ).

It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software.

The Report will Not Reveal Any Personal Information.

Post back the Full Report - copy and paste - using the Additional Text Icon ( 3rd Icon to last )

We can have a look at the report for possible issues and may have possible suggestions to resolve the issues.

UPDATE: The initial sync finished without any problems. Over the weekend the computer didn’t crash at all but as soon as I started working with Office files saved in OneDrive I got the black-screen crash again :-(. So unfortunately, despite the positive signs, the newest OneDrive update (22.111.0522) does not solve this problem.

I have multiple accounts being synched so I am going to try to identify if there is a particular account that is causing the crash.

I will also try to reset OneDrive for Mac as described here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/reset-onedrive-34701e00-bf7b-42db-b960-84905399050c#:~:text=To%20reset%20OneDrive%20on%20a%20Mac%3A%201%20Quit,6%20Start%20OneDrive%20and%20finish%20the%20setup%20process.
