Has anyone noticed that there is a new fraud happening where an online merchant shows a value they will charge to your Apple Pay account but when you double click it charges a far higher amount?
This happened with me today with Opodo travel app. The amount they overcharged was 60% of the actual authorized charge. I had to cancel my card and they’re refusing to refund the money.
I am so angry. It’s a part of edreams/Odigeo which is a big company.
Unfortunately it does. It is the way in which Apple Pay fails to give us a chance to verify if the amount is correct.
I am going to deactivate Face ID and see if that allows me to see and verify the charge before it goes through.
That has nothing to do with Apple Pay, just a bad business practice for the company. But, no. I've never had the problem.
Correct. But it’s the same thing. You’re just using Apple Pay as your payment method instead of entering card details. It’s the same step in the payment process; there is no difference between the methods.
Not sure what you mean. I’ve never not been able to see the charge on a website. That’s been standard practice before entering your card details. If the merchant is overcharging, contact the merchant
