Click-Lock Available?

I have used various mice, often with their own proprietary software. Many of them have a "click-lock" feature that allows you to choose one or more items and move them as though the mouse button were still down, though it doesn't actually have to be held down. I find this particularly useful in iTunes for moving songs between playlists, but also in other contexts.

I'm now using the new Apple Magic Trackpad. So far as I can tell, it is missing the click-lock feature. Is there any way of activating that feature for the trackpad?

If there isn't, I hope this will be considered as something to be added to the software.

Yeah, I hear you.. My old fingers don't do a great job on all the clicks either 🙂

The dragging allows you to lock in on something and drag it with a double tap. It releases when you raise your finger off the trackpad.

The Drag lock keeps the drag active until you tap to unlock it.

Placing your cursor over these options in System Preferences will show you how they work in the "movie" to the right.

I just thought these options were the closest thing to your original question about click-lock.

Cheers

I've now tried your configuration for a while. It doesn't seem to work in iTunes for what I want to use it for.

If I select a single song in iTunes and double-tap on it to drag, the song starts playing but dragging is impossible. The only way to drag one song seems to be to hold my finger down. That isn't what I want and won't work for me.

I appreciate your help, though. Any other ideas? If not, maybe Apple should consider reconfiguring the software to make a click-lock easier to achieve in iTunes.
