Hello, Hermmie.
We'd be happy to look into this and make sure your iPhone is working as expected. When you send an audio message on your device, follow these steps:
- In a conversation, touch and hold
to record an audio message. - Tap
to listen to your message before you send it. - Tap
to send the message or
to cancel.
Note: To save space, iPhone automatically deletes audio messages two minutes after you listen to them, unless you tap Keep. To always keep audio messages, go to Settings > Messages > Expire (below Audio Messages), then tap Never.
In the first screenshot you sent, that is an iMessage so you do see that icon. On the second screenshot you sent, that is an SMS message (not an iMessage) so the icon you want to use is on the very bottom right, below the Return button, that looks like a microphone. Tap that and you will be able to record your message to send. Learn more about sending audio messages here: Send and receive photos, videos, and audio messages on iPhone - Apple Support.
Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
