The voice button should be at the right corner of the text field in iMessage. It has disappeared recently. Only after I have received a voice message, It shows up again. Then I could reply with a voice message too. I have tried the following but to no avail.

We'd be happy to look into this and make sure your iPhone is working as expected. When you send an audio message on your device, follow these steps:
to record an audio message.
to listen to your message before you send it.
to send the message or 
to cancel.Note: To save space, iPhone automatically deletes audio messages two minutes after you listen to them, unless you tap Keep. To always keep audio messages, go to Settings > Messages > Expire (below Audio Messages), then tap Never.
In the first screenshot you sent, that is an iMessage so you do see that icon. On the second screenshot you sent, that is an SMS message (not an iMessage) so the icon you want to use is on the very bottom right, below the Return button, that looks like a microphone.
