brand new apple watch series 6 with GPS and cellular not updating when connecting.

Got a brand new apple watch series 6 with gps and cellular and im trying to set up the watch for my son in the family member and when i get to update i get an error saying "unable to check for update because you are not connected to the internet" i try everything and nothing its working. the watch its brand new no one has used it and to have this problem from the beginning its really bad, can anyone help me please. im not in the usa im living in lima peru.
