Can't open PDF attachments on icloud email account on my MacBook Pro. Pop-up with 'PDF.js viewer' appears. I can open attachments on my iPhone and on another MacBook Pro that I own.

Can you verify you are using macOS Sierra 10.12 ...(?) the current stable release 10.12.6 (September 26, 2019)
Old issue, new issue, what changed?
Is this isolated to one PDF are all PDF's?
What happens if you highlight the PDF and use Control Click>"Open With" >Preview.app

I am running macOD Sierra 10.12.6.
The issue has only just occurred over the last few days. I can open older attachments.
This only happens on the web-based version of iCloud email on this particular MacBook. I can open PDFs through the web-based version of iCloud email on my other MacBook. I can also open PDFs on Apple Mail on this MacBook.
The web-based version of iCloud email on this MacBook doesn't give me the option to use Control Click>"Open With" >Preview.app

I have the same problem, when I open my iCloud mail account it's impossible to open a pdf. This is a problem that goes back to 2016 and Apple still haven't supplied a fix. Some of the workarounds I have seen are to scary for me to try. I don't fancy losing all my email history to try to solve the problem.
I've had the same problem for 6 months and none of the prescribed solutions works. When I double click on it, nada. When I control click, nada. Bad.
