How do I get my files over to my computer from my ipad?

I just got a Mac 24 and set it up in a hurry. Now that i have time, I'm trying to go back to the syncing screen and I'm unable. I have a mac air 13, and would like all of my documents to show up on the computer. What is the best/easiest way to do this?
