find my iphone

Lost my phone the other day. So great, I'll use the "find my iphone" feature. Well the iphone is the only apple device I own. BTW, it is Iphone 13, ios 15.2 if it matters. So I log into icloud, and it says I need to enter the verification code that was displayed on my device. Well.....it's the ONLY apple device I own, and if I can't get that verfication code that is displayed on the device because the device is LOST, then the find my feature is absolutely, utterly useless.

Is there an alternative aside from buying a second device? With the way find my...is set up, I'm not too motivated to buy another device. If that's the case I'll look at a different brand that may be easier to use. This is strike two with Apple. Strike one was the "genius bar"....of which I will never use again.

Also, I had to walk down the road to the nearest neighbor's place and ask her to walk back to my house and call my number while I listened for the ring. Thankfully the phone ringer was not turned off and it was a somewhat easy find; albeit quite frustrating in two ways, the other being that I had to walk about a mile and a half to ask for help which was, frankly, embarrassing.
