my back camera and flashlight randomly stopped working. i haven’t dropped my
phone recently or anything. it just shows a black screen when i try to take a photo with back camera and my flashlight will say it’s on but no light is on

Well, perhaps you should back up your phone or sync your photos (or better yet, do both). Suppose you dropped your phone in a toilet or it fell under a bus?

id just like to say lawrence fish. it was a bug and not a hardware issue. it was working today and it broke right after i updated my phone. it was not broken bc i dropped it or hit it or had a hardware issue. apple just has kinks to work out.
Have it your way. But the only way to fix it, if you have tried restarting your phone or restoring a backup, is to contact Apple or make a genius bar appointment. If a restart doesn’t fix it then it is 100% a hardware problem whether you want to believe it or not. There are over 500 million iPhones that have been updated. How many of those have the problem you describe? If it was a bug it would be all or most of them and this forum would be overwhelmed with posts about it.
idk it only works on instagram as of right now. and it only started working after i deleted 3000 photos so i think it’s something else besides a hardware issue. cuz why would my flash and camera work on one app but not the original apple camera?

It broke. Stuff happens. There’s no way to know why the camera failed without a teardown and detailed analysis of the hardware.
i also did a hard restart a couple times and that did not do anything. I didn’t do the factory reset though because my photos and everything haven’t been backupped.
