default ports timed oput

I have internet and wifi also working .gmail also working .apple mail is not working and I am out side my home country .it says connection to the server and then my email .com " on the default ports timed oput.Appreciate if you could help me .

Connections to the server “imap.gmail.com” on the default ports timed out. HELP!! This has just recently started and although I am connected to the internet, all of my email accounts say the same, including iCloud. I can't seem to send out or receive anything. I spent hours this morning with an outside expert trying to fix this on my computer and he couldn't help. Is this a problem with my own internet server? No problem with my iPhone or iPad, just on the Mac.

Thanks for the reply . It was a maintenance issue of the service provider .

This sounds like an internet server issue as the Mac's ports don't time out. Internet connections time out; I suggest you try a different browser, Firefox maybe, or wait a while. it could be the server is down, overloaded or communication lines have been cut.
