when I press anything on the remote the light blinks on the Apple TV box but nothing moves on the screen
The Apple TV box would acknowledge receiving a remote signal by blinking the status light briefly. But it will only follow commands from linked remotes. So do the unlinking and linking using the key combos, as advised previously.
